The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawahah, reviewed, in a meeting entitled “One Gate to a Common Vision” today, in the presence of the CEO of the Chinese Hong Kong region, John Lee, the joint projects between Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong and the investment opportunities that enhance the Saudi Vision 2030, to transform towards an economy based on Partnership and innovation.
The Minister highlighted the most important results of the vision achieved under the leadership of Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – to build a digital society, digital economy and effective digital government, relying on the pillars of strength, including the technical energies and competencies that made the Kingdom the largest conglomerate of human capabilities. In technology and innovation in the region, and a pivotal center for technology and recording the largest story of empowering women in the technical sector globally, with a growth rate of 7% in 2017 to 33% today, in addition to highlighting the major leaps in bold money and technology investments in the Kingdom.
The minister referred to the investment opportunities provided by the ecosystem for the technology sector in the Kingdom, calling on companies to invest in a number of areas, including digital health, tourism and innovation in the field of energy and industry, according to “SPA”.
In his opening speech, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, John Lee, praised the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The meeting comes with the aim of strengthening government relations in the technical fields, developing the system of emerging national companies, as well as attracting technical investments and attracting venture capital, and within the agenda of the visit of the delegation of the telecommunications system to the People’s Republic of China.
Today, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology began an official visit to the People’s Republic of China, which includes Beijing, the Hong Kong Administrative Region, and Shenzhen. He will also meet his Chinese counterpart, a number of government officials, and leaders of major companies working in the fields of technology, digital economy, space, and innovation.
This visit comes in light of the developments witnessed in the Saudi-Chinese relations in recent years, to confirm the strength of the partnership between the two countries, which is characterized by an accelerating pace in light of the escalation of global opportunities and the development of technologies in various fields.
It is expected that the visit of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology will contribute to strengthening many partnerships, in addition to attracting more Chinese technical investments to the Kingdom by building strategic partnerships that promote the growth of the digital economy and achieve prosperity in the fields of innovation and space, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The Minister of Communications is accompanied by a high-level delegation representing the entities affiliated with the digital economy, space and innovation system in the Kingdom.
