For this, the Iru Haram Karyalaya Authority (the general authority for the maintenance of the Grand Mosque of Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah) has signed an MoU with the Saudi Postal and Logistics Services Company (SPL).
Dividing it into coded zones is believed to be useful for pilgrims and staff to go to each part of the mosque without getting lost and ask for the destination. The MoU stipulates that a study be carried out to determine the parts of the Makkah Masjid al-Haram and its vast outer courtyard.
It is also hoped that this will help in aligning the employees, evaluating their service performance and ensuring high quality of services.
Last year the number of foreign Umrah pilgrims had crossed 1.35 crore. Saudi Arabia has decided to grant 3 crore Umrah visas by 2030. Saudi Vision 2030 targets are being developed for this purpose.
