New Delhi: Account holders in small savings schemes including Senior Citizens Savings Scheme, General Provident Fund should submit their Aadhaar number to the concerned bank or post office by September 30. In case of default, their savings accounts will be frozen, the central government said.
In March last year, the Union Finance Ministry had announced that it would be mandatory to link the Aadhaar number with their savings accounts. It was given 6 months time.
Accordingly, they should link their Aadhaar number with their account between April 1 and September 30. In case of default, their accounts will be suspended.
