School lunch cooks in Kerala earn up to Rs 13,500 in a month of 20 working days. Out of this, the central share is only Rs. 600. The remaining Rs 12,900 will be provided from the state fund.
According to the central norms, only Rs.1000 per month as honorarium should be paid to school cooks. However, the Finance Minister stated that the daily wage in Kerala is Rs 600 to Rs 675.
The Finance Minister informed that Harita Theertham project which is a part of State Harita Kerala Mission’s Navkeralam project has started in Kottarakkara Karipra. An exemplary water conservation project has been implemented in Karipra Panchayat, which utilizes the water from the abandoned paddy fields.
The main objective of the project is to use the water from the 20 acre deep rock quarry located in Ulavukod Ward of Karipra Gram Panchayat using a 10 HP solar powered pump set to the nearby ponds and streams and use it mainly for agriculture in five wards namely Ulavukod, Wakanad, Nedumonkav, Kodikod and Etuaikode.
Also, through the project, 40 acres of paddy fields can be cultivated, the ground water table can be maintained to prevent drought and the area will be kept as a barren village. It also has the distinction of being a fully green energy powered project. Anert under the state government has set up the solar plant and pump set for the project operation. Through a Facebook post, the finance minister informed that a complete bathymetry survey has been conducted in Paraquari with the help of the state hydrographic department and the water level has also been determined.
