Specialists of the Tyumen Higher Military Engineering Command School named after Marshal of the Engineering Troops Proshlyakov of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation have developed a project for a drone that is able to stay in the air for a longer amount of time due to the ability to recharge from power lines (PTL).
Information about this follows from a document published on December 24 on the Rospatent website.
According to the abstract of the invention, it is an aircraft with several rotors – a multicopter. In its lower part there is a disconnectable annular magnetic circuit, with which the drone is hooked onto the power transmission line for recharging.
The purpose of such a project is to increase the duration of the flight both in peacetime and in wartime, in particular, for reconnaissance of enemy territory.
The drone will be monitored by a remote operator, whose task is to point the device to the power line and ensure their closure.
The drone is then charged in an inverted position, while retaining the ability to conduct reconnaissance and rotate the camera installed on it in the desired direction.
Once charged, the aircraft’s motors will start and the aircraft will return to flight.
According to the document, the drone’s magnetic circuit can also be used to capture and drop payloads.
Earlier, on December 9, it was reported that scientists from the Baltic Federal University. I. Kant presented an updated version of the Balalaika hardware and software complex at the Vuzpromexpo exhibition in Sochi. Now, with the help of the program, you can control computer applications using gestures and thoughts.
The program is based on artificial intelligence technology, which provides intuitive and reliable operation. At the same time, the authors of the invention took care of the convenience of the neurodevice – its compactness and portability make the interface optimal for solving various applied problems.
