The Russian second division football league witnessed one of the fastest goals in football history and perhaps the fastest ever.
Player Nikolai Ivanov, during his Pitigorsk team’s match against Khimik Dzerzhinsk in the second division of football, fired a “rocket” shot from the center circle immediately after the starting whistle, and the ball landed about three seconds later in the net after the goalkeeper failed to stop it.
It has not yet been precisely determined how long the ball spent in the air before entering the Russian Khimik club’s net, but the SPORT 24 website suggests that Ivanov’s goal was among the fastest goals in the history of football, and perhaps the fastest of all.
The record for the fastest goal in the history of football belongs to Croydon’s English player Ryan Hall, who scored his goal 2.31 seconds after the start of his team’s match against the Cockfosters in the London Championship.
