The notes in the water are pulled out and dried with the help of dryers. “During a search of Roy’s house, IT officials seized Rs 8 crore in cash, including Rs 1 crore hidden in a water tank, along with three kilograms of gold jewelery and valuables,” said Munmun Sharma, joint commissioner, IT department. Businessman Shankar Roy was previously elected chairman of the Damoh Municipal Corporation. His brother Kamal Roy is also the Vice-Chairman. Inspections began at 5 a.m. Thursday and lasted for 39 hours until 10 a.m. Friday. Shankar Roy and his family conducted searches in ten areas. Nearly 36 buses were found operating under the staff name. On the other hand, the IT department has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to Roy’s family assets. Shankar Roy said the raids on the residences of his family members were over and the investigation would continue on the basis of the seized documents. Munman Sharma said that various types of documents have been received and the value of the entire assets will be known after the completion of these.
