Sukma. An encounter took place between security personnel and Naxalites on Friday in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. In this encounter, security forces killed 10 Naxalites. Also recovered a large number of weapons from the spot. Searching is still going on in the area.
A senior police officer said that the encounter started in the morning in a forest under Bhejji police station when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation. According to the news, the DRG team had gone out to surround the Naxalites. Information was received that Naxalites have entered the forests of Chhattisgarh via Odisha. Only after this the team set out for siege. Along with DRG soldiers, CRPF soldiers were also involved in the encounter.
There is news of 10 Naxalites being killed in this encounter (Sukma Encounter). The soldiers have also recovered several weapons including three automatic ones from the spot. Bastar Inspector General of Police P Sundarraj confirmed that search operations are still going on in the area and 10 bodies have been recovered. At least 257 Naxalites have been killed since January this year, while 861 have been arrested and 789 have surrendered.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai’s office wrote on social media platform X, “Security forces killed 10 Naxalites in a major operation in Sukma district this morning. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai expressed happiness over this achievement of the security forces and said that his government is working on the policy of zero tolerance towards Naxalism.
