New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways announced last December that a separate examination for the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) jobs will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) along with the IAS (Civil Service) examination.
In this context, the IRMS exam program was abandoned and the Railway Department issued a new notification yesterday. In it, it is stated that “Employees will be selected for Indian Railway Administrative Jobs through Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC”.
According to railway sources, the central government is of the opinion that since many of the civil service (IAS) candidates are engineering graduates, they can also be appointed to IRMS services. Keeping this in mind, it has been announced that the officers will be selected for the IRMS job through civil service examination. Through the new notification, henceforth officers of IAS status will also be appointed in the post of Technical Division Officers.
