New Delhi. Congress has suffered a setback before the Maharashtra assembly elections. Congress MLA Jitesh Antapurkar has resigned from the party. He may join BJP today. He is an MLA from Deglur assembly seat. He is considered a supporter of Ashok Chavan.
It is being said that he was also involved in cross voting in the MLC elections. However, due to secret voting, his name has not been revealed. Let us tell you that a few days ago he had met CM Eknath Shinde. Jitesh Antapurkar had said that he had talked to the CM about the issue of farmers.
Jitesh Antapurkar had come under the party’s target due to cross voting in the Legislative Council elections. It is believed that Ashok Chavan (65) will become the gate pass for his entry into BJP. Ashok Chavan himself used to be in Congress once. He had a different status in Maharashtra Congress but he parted ways with the party in February this year and became a part of BJP on the 13th of the month.
Let us tell you that Jitesh Antapurkar’s father Raosaheb won the MLA election in the year 2019, but he died due to Covid. It is worth noting that elections for the 288-seat Maharashtra Legislative Assembly are likely to be held in October-November. Apart from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the ruling Mahayuti alliance includes Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
