The government has invoked the ESMA Act against the Anganwadi strike in AP. Bringing the Anganwadis under the emergency services, JV No. 2 has been issued. The order states that strikes and protests are prohibited for six months. On the other hand, the wages of Anganwadi workers and helpers were cut for the period of the strike. Salary of Rs.8,050 was reduced by Rs.3 thousand and deposited in their accounts. Anganwadi workers and helpers will come under ESMA with latest JIO number 2. The government considers the services provided to pregnant women, infants and toddlers as emergency services. Anganwadi workers and helpers were instructed not to strike. An order was issued banning the strike for 6 months from today. It is interesting to see what kind of decision the Anganwadis will take.
