A sensational verdict was given. The High Court has expressed its anger against two IAS officers who have committed contempt of court. Higher Education Department Principal Secretary Shyama Rao and College Education Department Commissioner Pola Bhaskar were sentenced to one month simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs. The High Court ordered him to surrender before December 8 before the Registrar Judicial to serve the jail sentence. The High Court directed the registry to take steps to send them to jail as per the rules. To this extent, the judge of the High Court, Justice K. Manmatha Rao, announced the verdict. On July 26 last year, the High Court ordered the Commissioner and Directorate of College Education to take unaided lecturers into aided colleges. As the authorities of the concerned department did not implement that judgment, Sabbavarapu Suribabu along with some other unaided lecturers filed contempt of court lawsuits in the High Court. Senior counsel appeared on behalf of the petitioners. The judge, who considered those arguments, concluded that the authorities did not implement the court’s orders on purpose. Accordingly, the concerned officers were sentenced to imprisonment and fined.
