New Delhi: Indian Wrestling Federation president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment, may be investigated and punished for the crimes of stalking and harassment, according to the Delhi Police’s charge sheet.
The technical evidence presented in the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police against Brij Bhushan Singh confirms this. This technical evidence includes photographs of Brij Bhushan taking too much advantage of the complainants, Brij Bhushan’s phone location corroborating the testimony of a witness, and photographic evidence of Brij Bhushan’s presence at the alleged incident of sexual harassment.
Earlier, 6 people including leading female wrestlers of India filed sexual harassment complaint against Indian Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Charan Singh. Based on their allegations, the Delhi Police registered a case, conducted an investigation and filed a chargesheet in the court.
In the charge sheet, the Indian Wrestling Federation officials have provided the Delhi Police with four photographs of Brij Bhushan and the complainant participating in a sports competition abroad. It is said that it is clear that Birj Bhushan is taking too much ownership of the actresses who complained in two films.
Further, Brij Bhushan may be tried and convicted for the offenses of stalking and harassment, the chargesheet said. A total of 21 persons have given their statement against Brij Bhushan Singh. 6 of them have given statement under section 164 CrPC.
Summons to appear in person: Delhi’s Rose Avenue court issued a summons last Friday saying, “There is sufficient evidence to proceed with this case against Brij Bhushan. He should appear before the court on July 18.”
Furious MP: At this point, a reporter from an English media asked, “Will you resign as a Member of Parliament?” The enraged MP said, “Why should I resign? Why are you asking me to resign?” he asked. The MP then walked past the reporter telling him to “shut up” when the reporter tried to highlight the allegations against Bhushan. When the reporter followed Brij Bhushan to get an answer from him, the MP who was sitting in the car. He put the reporter’s mic on the car windshield and crushed it.
Congress charges: Sharing a video of the incident on his social media account, Indian Youth Congress president PV Srinivas said, “BJP MP accused of harassing women wrestlers threatens a female reporter in front of the camera and breaks her mic. Who is talking like this? Whose character is this Child and Women Development Minister Smriti?” He questioned that will Irani say?
Delhi Commission for Women president Swati Maliwal tweeted, “I’ll say it again. Brij Bhushan is a thug. If he can do this to a female reporter in front of a camera, imagine how he behaves when there are no cameras. He should be there. “The place is a prison. There is no parliament,” he said.
Earlier, the Congress party had questioned Prime Minister Modi’s silence on the sexual harassment allegations against Brij Bhushan, saying the government is facing a test from India’s daughters. Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinade questioned, “When will PM Modi withdraw Brij Bhushan Singh from BJP and when will he be arrested?”
