The Godolphin International Team’s horse, Shadow of Light, under the supervision of his trainer, Charlie Appleby, succeeded in winning his first victory in the world’s highest-ranked Group 1 races, after he deservedly won the title of the Middle Park Stakes race, designated for a distance of 1,200 meters on grass. It took place today, Saturday, at the ancient British Newmarket racecourse.
“Shadow of Light,” led by his jockey William Buick, started moderately and ran at the back of the group of six horses, before responding, starting in the middle of the race, to Buick’s desire to increase his pace, and then unleashing his abilities from the side of the inside fence at the final 400-meter mark. He surpassed his competitors towards the lead, crossing the finish line in a time of one minute, 12 seconds and 29 hundredths of a second, with a large difference of four lengths from the second-placed British horse “Whistle Jacket”, led by jockey Ryan Moore and supervised by the expert Irish trainer Aiden O’Brien.
