Sharjah Football Club announced the completion of the transfer of Cape Verde striker and Turkish club Trabzonspor Djaniny Tavares (31 years) on loan until the end of the current season as a replacement for Senegalese striker Makiti Diop.
The player, who will wear the number 21 shirt, arrived in Sharjah late on Monday night, before undergoing a medical examination at the university hospital, the club’s medical partner, and completing the signing procedures on Tuesday evening, in the presence of the company’s president, Abdullah Muhammad Al-Ajlah.
Sharjah Club stated in a press statement that Djanini started his professional career in Portugal, where he played for a number of clubs, the most famous of which was Benfica, before moving to the Mexican League, where he played for Santos Laguna and stood out remarkably with the team, where he scored 53 goals and made 17 assists, and won the Cup with the team. Mexico in 2014 and the Mexican League in 2018, after which he moved to the Saudi club Al-Ahly Jeddah, with whom he contributed to 42 goals out of 56 matches he played in the club’s colors, scoring 32 times and making 10 goals to conclude his career with the Jeddah club and join the Turkish Trabzon club, where he participated in 94 matches. He scored on 20 occasions, scored 9 goals, and won the Turkish League championship last season with the team.
The Cape Verdean striker is good at playing in the center of the spearhead and the right and left wings, and he is 190 cm tall. On the side of the continental championships, the player participated during his career in two Champions League matches and 6 matches in the European League.
