A statistic monitored by “Emirates Today” from the official website of the Professional League revealed that the Sharjah striker, the Spanish Paco Alcacer, who is considered the team’s most expensive deal in the ADNOC Professional League, when he was contracted in August 2022, and his market value at that time reached nine million euros, participated with the team for a period. Only 38 minutes in the 11 matches that “The King” has played so far in the league.
Alcacer played as a substitute in six matches without scoring a goal, and he has not yet been a starter in the squad of Sharjah coach Roman Cosmin, noting that “The King” currently leads the league standings with 28 points, and has so far only lost in one match. Against Shabab Al-Ahly in the sixth round.
Alcacer (31 years old) participated in the 77th minute against Al Jazira in the third round of the league, against Al Bataeh in the 84th minute in the fourth round, against Al Orouba in the 77th minute in the fifth round, and against Ajman in the 96th minute in the ninth round. And against Al-Wahda in the 92nd minute of the tenth round, and against Al-Ain in the 86th minute of the 11th round.
Sharjah had signed Alcacer in August 2022 on a three-year contract, coming from the Spanish club Villarreal.
In his first season with Sharjah 2022-2023, Alcacer played 25 matches in the league out of 26, 20 of which were starts, and the playing minutes he played amounted to 1,944 minutes.
Sports circles bet at the time that Alcacer would become the top scorer in the UAE League, but this did not happen, as the player finished his first season with Sharjah in the 2022-2023 season with a total of only eight goals, while the title of top scorer in the league at that time was won by Al Ain player Laba Kudu with 28 goals.
Paco Alcacer returned to the ranks of Sharjah at the beginning of the current football season, after participating with the Emirates Club last season on loan.
It is noteworthy that Alcacer had suffered from a lot of injuries in previous periods, especially in 2018, and the player mentioned in one of the press statements reported by the Spanish press that he had suffered a lot from injuries.
For his part, the players’ agent, Walid Al Shamsi, told “Emirates Today”: “Alcacer did not succeed with the Sharjah Club, nor with the Emirates team, to which he went on loan last season, for several reasons, including his advanced age and the end of his football career after he passed the age of 30.” years, in addition to his inability to adapt to the playing system in the UAE League.
Al Shamsi added: “Alcacer came to Sharjah at the wrong time, due to the end of his football career, in addition to the fact that he played in an environment other than the one in which he was accustomed to playing, and he is not the type of player who makes a difference like the current Sharjah player, Caio Lucas, and the Al Ain players, Laba Kodjo and Sufyan Rahimi. But it depends on the system of play in the team, and on those who create goals for them to score, and I believe that his previous distinction in the Spanish League came from the fact that the system of play there was consistent with the way he played.”
Al Shamsi continued: “Alcacer did not give the performance expected of him, even in his first season with the Sharjah Club, and he appeared to be a very ordinary player in the UAE League. Historically, the Sharjah Club relies in many of its contracts during its career on players from the Brazilian school of football, which succeeded greatly with the club.” Sharjah, as well as players from Portugal and Iran, many of whom shone with the club and left a distinctive mark.”
He concluded: “Sharjah did not benefit from the Alcacer deal, whether in terms of technical returns or in terms of marketing, by exploiting his name, even though it is considered one of the most expensive deals in the UAE League.”
Walid Al Shamsi:
. The club did not benefit from Alcacer technically or marketingally, even in his first season, and he seemed like an ordinary player.
. Alcacer was unable to adapt to the playing system in the UAE League.
