The victim, who struggled with the beast for 20 minutes, finally escaped from him. She took the scythe under the bed and slit his throat. She then went to the police station and lodged a complaint. The incident took place at Umarhi village under Khadi police station in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday night.

According to Khadi police station SI Dharmendra Singh Rajput, the victim, a 45-year-old woman from Umarhi village, was at home with her 13-year-old son when her husband went to another place for work. At this point the accused entered the house and her son, who was thought to be a thief, ran out to call the neighbors. With this he was going to beat and rape her who was alone.

The victim struggled for almost 20 minutes to escape the clutches of the lover. “In an attempt to escape from her, she took a scythe from under the bed and mutilated him. Then at around 1.30 pm, she reached the police outpost and lodged a complaint,” Rajput said.

He said the accused was taken to the hospital by the police and given first aid. He was rushed to Sidhi District Hospital on medical instructions and from there to Sanjay Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Rewa district.
Police said cases of rape and attempted murder have been registered against the accused. The accused also said that he had lodged a complaint against the woman. He is currently being treated at the hospital.
