Shirin Abu Akhila assassination; Qatar condemns the end of world support for Israel

Qatar: Senior Al Jazeera journalist Shirin Abu Akhila was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the West Bank yesterday. Qatar came to the scene strongly condemning the incident. Qatar says the death is evidence of state terrorism. Such acts sponsored by Israel must end. Qatar also demanded that the world end its unconditional support to Israel. A statement issued by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for this.

Such atrocities against freelance journalists should be seen as a human right. This is a setback for media freedom and freedom of expression. The steps taken by the media to know the information and convey it to the people are not insignificant. The Qatari foreign ministry said in a statement that the killing of Shirin Abu Akhila was a violation of “the right of the people to information”.

Qatar has called on the international community to take immediate action to prevent violence against journalists and Palestinians. This suggests that journalists wearing press jackets working in such conflict zones have no protection. “Shirin was the voice of the Palestinians and we express our condolences and condolences for their loss,” he said.
