Mumbai: If all-rounder Hardik Pandya moves to Mumbai Indians, Shubman Gill may be appointed as the captain of Gujarat Titans, according to reports.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been the captain of the Gujarat team for the last two years. He led Gujarat to win the trophy in the team’s first IPL series (2022).
In this context, the player auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) series is scheduled to be held on December 19. Before this auction, IPL teams can exchange their players. Accordingly players can be retained and released in their team.
In that respect, Gujarat team retained Hardik Pandya yesterday (Nov.26) after 72 hours of intense negotiations. However, it is said that the IPL and BCCI administrations have not approved the move as expected.
As the IPL player auction will be held till 19th, the deadline for players to be transferred on trading basis has been extended till 12th December. Based on this, it has been reported that Hardik Pandya will return to the Mumbai Indians team within that period. And it seems that Mumbai team is ready to sign Pandya by paying more than his current bid of Rs 15 crore.
In this case, perhaps if Hardik Pandya returns to the Mumbai team, there are plans to appoint Shubman Gill as the captain of the Gujarat Titans team.
