Immediately upon hearing the news that the Israeli plane had arrived at the Makhachkala Airport, hundreds of protesters stormed the airport. A stampede broke out and more than 20 people were injured. The condition of two of them is critical.
People of the Muslim community are settled in many towns of the North Caucasus region in Russia, including Makhachkala. As soon as these people heard the news of the arrival of the plane from Israel, they all gathered and besieged the airport. The information about this incident which took place on Sunday night got late to the media.
Flight WZ4728 from Tel Aviv landed at Russia’s Makhachkala Airport at 7pm local time. It was a diverted flight scheduled to reach Moscow in just 2 hours.
Just then, hundreds of people rushed to the airport and started shouting Allahu Akbar slogans. The security personnel of the airport also became confused as hundreds of people joined suddenly. As the number of security personnel was less, the protesters breached the airport security and stormed near the airport runway. Some people shot videos of this incident and it has gone viral on social media. A report on this was also published in Russian local media Sota.
In the wake of this incident, the Russian state-owned airline has temporarily closed the Makhachkala airport. Additional security personnel have been deployed at the airport. As of now, we have received information that the situation is under control. However, the airport has been ordered to remain closed till November 6.

There are also scenes of protesters damaging vehicles. The protestors shout slogans, ‘We should not allow people from a country that kills children into our country.’
People are expressing outrage as they are sharing videos of protesters breaking the security barrier of the airport and clashing with the airport staff.
