Shimla. The controversy over Sanjauli Masjid in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla is not coming to an end. In order to maintain law and order in Shimla’s Sanjauli area, the district administration has implemented Section 163 in Sanjauli. For this, police force is deployed at every nook and corner.
Security forces lathicharged the protesters demanding demolition of illegal structure in Sanjauli Masjid in Sanjauli area. Many protesters were injured in police lathicharge. Protests have turned violent in Sanjauli. Protesters have broken the police security cordon. Water cannon and sloganeering continued during the clash between Hindu organizations protesting against alleged illegal construction in Sanjauli Masjid and police.
Police is using water cannon to stop the protesters. (Sanjauli Masjid) Protesters gathered in large numbers and blocked the roads. The protesters broke the barricades put up by the police and started moving towards the mosque. Police is continuously trying to stop the protesters through water cannon and lathicharge.
On the other hand, the police has arrested two people including Kamal Gautam, president of Hindu Jagran Manch. Kamal Gautam was trying to go near the mosque (Sanjauli Masjid). District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap said that an order has been issued in Sanjauli using powers under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code 2023. Under this, there will be a complete ban on gathering of 5 or more people in the Sanjauli area of the district in order to maintain law and order and peace.
