Chennai. Skoda Auto India on Monday announced the launch of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV)-Kushak at Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd’s plant in Pune. The company has said that it plans to start deliveries to its customers in July. The Kushak SUV is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which is a variant of the modular MQB-A0 platform. It has been specially designed by Skoda for the Indian and global markets.
Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India said, “The production roll out of the first car under the India 2.0 project is a historic milestone for Skoda Auto and Volkswagen Group in India. This is a testament to a great collaboration between our teams around the world and here in India.
According to Boparai, there is up to 95 percent localization in the manufacturing of Kushak.
The name of the medium-sized SUV Kushak is derived from Sanskrit. The company has said that the word ‘Kushak’ means king or emperor in the ‘language of the gods’ still used in India today. (IANS)
