A new US military aid package to Ukraine that includes longer-range missiles for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems will only exacerbate and prolong the conflict in Ukraine. Such an opinion on Friday, February 3, was made by the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, the leader of the LDPR party, Leonid Slutsky.
“The lives of civilians, further bloodshed are all “collateral damage” for the United States in the manic desire to defeat Russia on the “battlefield” with the hands of Zelensky’s puppet regime,” Slutsky emphasized in his Telegram channel.
According to the politician, the decision to supply longer-range missiles to Kyiv essentially gave the Ukrainian authorities an indulgence, since Washington clarified that Ukraine itself should decide how to use the weapons supplied to it.
At the same time, he noted that Russia has every opportunity for American military assistance to Ukraine to hit them with a “boomerang”.
“And the blood of civilians is on the conscience of Kyiv’s generous military sponsors and allies,” Slutsky added.
Earlier in the day, the Pentagon announced a new $2.17 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which included GLSDB projectiles with a range of 150 km. Later, the US defense department said that the US was leaving it up to Kyiv to use long-range projectiles to strike at Crimea.
On the same day, Acting Interior Minister Igor Klymenko announced that the ministry had begun forming assault brigades to seize Crimea and Donbass. According to him, the basis of the units will be active and former military, border guards and police officers with significant combat experience. The additional staffing of the brigades will be carried out at the expense of volunteers.
In response, the official representative of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, assured that the security of the Crimea was ensured reliably. At the same time, the official representative of the Kremlin stressed that the Donbass is not fully protected yet, so the special military operation continues.
On November 18, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that Ukraine has the right to use Western weapons at its discretion based on security considerations, including for strikes on Crimea.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine after the start of Russia’s special operation to protect Donbass. The decision on the special operation was made by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin against the backdrop of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of increased shelling by Ukrainian militants.
