Kanpur. A fire broke out due to gas leakage in the LPG unit at 6 am on Saturday in a foam mattress factory operating without fire NOC near Raghunathpur in industrial area Raniyan. Out of 11 workers working in the warehouse (mattress factory), 10 got trapped inside. Somehow seven were taken out.
Three burnt bodies were found in the factory (mattress factory) at around four in the evening. They could not be identified. Three injured died during treatment. Four workers have been admitted to the hospital. In fact, after the MoU in the Investors Summit, production was started in the factory by ignoring the standards about one and a half years ago. Even a provisional certificate was not taken during the construction of the factory (mattress factory).
Necessary arrangements for fire safety were not made in the premises (mattress factory). Hydrant line and trunk have been made for show. Not a single pumping set was installed to lift water from the tank. Police and administration say that the matter is being investigated. Action will be taken after this.
It is being told that the cylinders that were kept there started exploding with a loud bang. Due to the smoke, flames and explosions, no one was able to dare to go near. There was an atmosphere of panic among the people. On getting information about the incident, SP BBGTS Murti, ASP Rajesh Kumar Pandey, SDM Akbarpur Avnish Kumar Singh, CO Tanu Upadhyay reached with the police force. Police called more than eight fire engines from Mati, Sikandra, Rura and Kanpur. The fire was brought under control after five and a quarter hours of hard work.
