The situation with the forest fire in the Ryazan region remains difficult. This was stated by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on August 25, expressing hope that the fire would be contained within two days.
“The crown fires, when there is a powerful wind, jump over the forest protection belts, due to this, the fire expands. We hope that now the concentration of forces and the two mineralized strips that have been created will still make it possible to stop the fire in the north, ”he told reporters, while in the Ryazan region, together with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko, head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov.
At the same time, Sobyanin specified that the area of fire would increase in one or two days until it reached the final strip of the exposed front.
“I hope that within one or two days the fire will be localized and then extinguished,” he added.
Earlier that day, Kurenkov said that the Russian Emergencies Ministry had information about arson in the forests of the region. According to him, now this information is checked.
A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the situation with fires in the region difficult. He said that because of the strong wind, fires continue to spread and their centers in several areas are located within a five-kilometer zone from settlements. The head of state instructed to take all necessary measures to eliminate fires, minimize damage and expressed hope for the localization of the fire in the next three days.
At the same time, the Acting Governor of the region, Pavel Malkov, said that the settlements located near the border of the fire were under protection.
The first forest fire in the Ryazan region began on August 7, the second – the next day, later the fires grew and became spontaneous. On August 19, an emergency regime was introduced in the Ryazan region.
