She finally conquered anorexia. But with the consequences of this illness, Markus Söder’s eldest daughter Gloria-Sophie Burkandt (24) was confronted again every morning when she stood naked in front of the mirror. Until now …
Gloria is currently still in the hospital. She had an operation lasting several hours under general anesthesia – and tells BILD exclusively why:
“I had an operation yesterday because I got such saggy skin on my stomach from anorexia. That didn’t go away even with an hour of exercise a day.”
Gloria has been put on bed rest. According to the doctors’ advice, she should lie as still as possible for a week and then wear a special suit to speed up healing.

It is very important to her, Gloria continues, to warn young girls and women even more urgently about this terrible disease and its consequences.
Gloria: It’s a vicious circle. Even if you’ve managed to beat anorexia.”

Gloria weighed only 59 kilos at 1.85 meters
Markus Söder’s daughter fell ill anorexiawhen she was 20 – and hid the disease for years, even from her parents.
beginning of the year Gloria then told BILD about her ordeal for the first time:
“I weighed 59 kilos and was 1.85 meters tall. I stopped eating. I would rather die than keep rejecting myself. I kept getting thinner and only ate every two months. Hunger was the only feeling I could feel. I felt no joy at all.”

She managed to turn things around just a few months ago.
And now Gloria also knows why she got sick: “As a child I was fat, impulsive, always the loudest. I wanted to conquer the world, found everything exciting. Until I realized that my behavior did not fit into society. I was bullied. So I suppressed the real me – and got sick.”
At the beginning of 2023 she finally gained weight again: 15 kilos!
Gloria: “Cake, pasta, schnitzel. I ate everything I loved as a kid. And I like what I see in the mirror.” – Everything except her stomach. He had obviously suffered greatly from the constant fluctuations in weight.

“My body looked like that of a 40-year-old woman”
Gloria: “My body looked like a 40-year-old woman’s body from the constant gaining and losing weight. Due to anorexia, he has stored every food, even healthy fats, in his body. I had a round stomach because my body was having trouble digesting it because I had eaten very irregularly for many years.”
Gloria was developed in the Munich clinic by Dr. Nikolaus Raab (Munich Clinic) operates. The plastic surgeon once even wrote his dissertation on eating disorders. Glory: “Dr. Raab accompanied my anorexia and is now trying to help me out of it.”
Operation lasted two and a half hours
Gloria explains the procedure: “A fiber and plasma tightening was carried out. I just want to have the body of a 24 year old again and not have to face the consequences and pain of my past every day when I look at myself naked in the mirror. It’s a daily reminder of how much the eating disorder has wrecked me.”
