Sotheby’s will be auctioning off a 10.57 carat diamond it has called ‘The Eternal Pink’. The stone has the most vivid pink color ever seen in any other gemstone. It is expected to sell for over $35 million..
The rough diamond from which ‘The Eternal Pink’ was extracted weighed 23.78 carats and was extracted from the Damtshaa mine in Botswana.
A team of artisans from the Diacore company transformed the stone in detail, giving it an elegant cushion cut. To finish it, it took six months. With this cut, the artisans managed to enhance the bubblegum color of the diamond.
Among all the color levels available, the ‘Fancy Vivid’ level, which the 10.57-carat stone possesses, represents the highest that can be achieved for a colored diamond.
In addition, it has an ‘Internally Flawless’ clarity grade.
The gemstone has been polished into a cushion shape, with a set of facets that enhance the pink hue to make it more pleasing to the eye.
This combination makes the gem a rarity of nature.
