Desk. Meerut city’s SP MLA Rafiq Ansari was arrested by the police, where the arrest took place in Barabanki while returning from Lucknow to Meerut. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh said that the police will reach Meerut with Rafiq Ansari by evening. Rafiq Ansari was not appearing in the court even after 100 NBW (non-bailable warrant) notices from the High Court.
According to the information, orders were given to arrest the MLA for not appearing in court despite repeated notices. The police were raiding to arrest the MLA but he was continuously underground. Let us tell you that the MLA (Rafiq Ansari) had to appear in the High Court in an old case but the MLA was repeatedly disobeying the court orders.
He was not appearing for the hearing. After this, the High Court ordered the arrest of the MLA and presenting him in the court. The police had formed a team to arrest the SP MLA who did not appear in court even after 100 NBW notices were issued. The team was continuously trying to arrest the MLA (Rafiq Ansari). The MLA’s house in Meerut was also raided but the MLA was not found.
Despite repeated non-bailable warrants (numbering 101) and attachment proceedings under Section 82 CrPC, he (Rafiq Ansari) did not appear in court and appealed to the High Court against the order of the local court. Here his lawyer argued that the 22 accused originally charged in the case were acquitted in the judgment of May 15, 1997. Therefore, the case proceedings against him should be cancelled.
