Ambedkarnagar. By-election is to be held in Katehari assembly in Ambedkarnagar district of UP. From here, SP MP Lalji Verma accused the administration of scaring the voters. The MP has returned his security.
He (Lalji Verma) said in a letter to the SP that Muslim, Kurmi and Yadav voters are being intimidated by giving them red slips. This is fatal for a healthy democracy. In the letter, he accused the SP of working in favor of BJP and said that you had offered me an additional gunner, there was no need for it. I am also leaving my current gunner.
Let us tell you that just two days ago, during the search, Samajwadi Party MP Lalji Verma had an argument with the police. The SP MP slammed the police. He can be heard saying in the video, ‘Should we not also send our agent forms for the elections? What mistake are we making in this? Slamming the police officers, he said, should we not even campaign now? Its video was going viral.
It is noteworthy that Samajwadi Party has declared Shobhawati Verma, wife of SP MP Lalji Verma, as its candidate from Katehari Assembly seat. Lalji Verma had become MLA on this seat but after being elected as MP, this seat became vacant. Shobhavati Verma has been the block chief. Besides, she was elected as District Panchayat member on BSP ticket, after which she has also been the District Panchayat President. This time she is contesting the by-election from Katehari assembly seat from Samajwadi Party.
