Soldiers of the Akhmat special forces unit and the second corps of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) are already in the city of Severodonetsk. This was announced on May 26 by Apti Alaudinov, assistant to the head of the Chechen Republic for the power unit, commander of the Akhmat special detachment.
“A couple of days, as we are in the city of Severodonetsk and adjacent settlements. We captured this territory with a crescent, starting from the settlement of Borovskoye. We are partly in the city and in the village,” he said.
Alaudinov specified that they are gradually pushing the Ukrainian military formations deeper into Severodonetsk.
According to him, the fighters have no problems, the work is going well.
On Thursday, May 26, Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin showed footage from the scene of active hostilities on the outskirts of Severodonetsk.
He told how the militants tried to fire at the positions of Russian military personnel, but most often the shells hit residential buildings in nearby settlements. The military of Russia and the LPR responded with massive strikes against the fortified areas of the Ukrainian military. An artillery duel ensued.
The armed forces of Ukraine retreated with losses.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said on May 25 that Russian servicemen entered the city of Lisichansk and almost entered Severodonetsk. On the same day, Andrei Marochko, an officer of the People’s Militia of the LPR, reported on the operational encirclement of Severodonetsk. According to him, the movement was carried out only along a single bridge, which was also under fire control.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The situation in the region escalated in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the LPR announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and turned to Moscow for help.
