The special services uncovered the murders of the deputy mayor of Berdyansk Oleg Boyko and his wife, as well as the deputy head of the traffic police Alexander Kolesnikov. This was reported to journalists on February 9 by a representative of special services.
The crimes were revealed as a result of operational-search activities in the territory of the Zaporozhye region.
“Officers of law enforcement agencies identified the perpetrators and accomplices of the murder of the deputy head of the traffic police of Berdyansk Kolesnikov and the attempted murder of the commandant of Berdyansk, Colonel Bardin, as well as the first deputy head of Berdyansk, Pavel Ischuk. All the defendants turned out to be residents of Berdyansk, ”a source told reporters.
As the investigation established, members of the bandit group were also involved in preparing the murder of the deputy mayor of the city Oleg Boyko and his wife Lyudmila, who headed the territorial election commission in preparation for the referendum on joining the Russian Federation. They are also related to the explosion of the headquarters of the humanitarian aid of the United Russia political party in the territory of Berdyansk.
The car of the commandant of Berdyansk Artyom Bardin was blown up in June 2022. In August of the same year, Alexander Kolesnikov, deputy chief of the traffic police of the city, died when an improvised device was blown up.
The murder of Oleg and Lyudmila Boyko became known on September 16, 2022. The crime happened at the spouses’ garage. The authorities of the city noted that they do not exclude that representatives of Kyiv are responsible for what happened. The victims died from gunshot wounds to the head. Also at the scene of the murder, six shell casings were found from cartridges, presumably fired from a Makarov pistol.
The next day, the chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to open a criminal case into the murder of the family of the deputy head of the military-civilian administration of Berdyansk for housing and communal services Boyko.
On September 30, 2022, the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, became part of the Russian Federation following the results of referendums held from September 23 to 27. This happened after the territories came under the control of the Russian military during a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022 against the background of the aggravated situation in the region by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
