Bengaluru: Bhopal BJP MP for saying ‘Hindus should keep sharp weapons at home’ Karnataka Police has registered a case against Pragya Singh Thakur.
The annual conference of the Hindu Jagrana Vedike organization was held on 25th in Shivamogga, Karnataka. Pragya Singh Thakur, BJP MP from Bhopal, who participated as a special guest, said, “It is a culture for them (Islamists) to do love jihad. We should not accept it. Protect your daughters from Love Jigat. Keep sharp weapons in your homes. If you don’t have weapons, at least keep a vegetable cutting knife.”
This speech of Pragya Singh Thakur was released on social media and created a lot of controversy. Shivamogga District Congress President Sundaresh filed a complaint at Kote Police Station. In it, it was mentioned that “Pragya Singh Thakur has spoken in a manner that incites violence against a particular religion. Her speech is intended to cause hatred and riots between two sects.”
After this complaint, Kote police arrested BJP MP. A case has been registered against Pragya Singh Thakur under 5 sections including Section 153A (causing enmity between two groups) and 295A (inciting religious sentiments) of the Indian Penal Code. Organizations including BJP and Hindu Jakarna Vedike have condemned this.
