Serbian specialist Marko Nikolic may become CSKA coach in January. This was reported on December 29 by “Sport-Express”.
According to the newspaper, the terms of the contract between the 42-year-old specialist and the Moscow club have been agreed.
Marko Nikolic coached Lokomotiv capital from May 2020 to October 2021. Then his team took second place in the 2019/20 season, third in the 2020/21 season, and also won the Russian Cup.
Currently, the post of CSKA coach is held by Alexey Berezutsky. He was approved for this position in July 2021. The Red and Blue are in third place with 30 points in the Tinkoff RPL standings after 18 rounds.
On December 9, it was reported that the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union punished CSKA for failing to ensure security during the match against Zenit on November 28, when after the end of the meeting, the fans of the red and blue lit several dozen flares. After the incident, arrests were made.
As a result of the arrests, 51 reports of administrative offenses were drawn up, at least 25 CSKA fans could face a ban on attending sports events in Russia.
In turn, the club’s management condemned the fans’ use of so many pyrotechnics, but stressed that innocent people should not suffer, and promised to provide legal support to their fans.
