San Francisco. Music streaming platform Spotify has announced that it will shut down its wordplay-inspired music guessing game ‘Hurdle’ on May 5. The company said, thanks for playing Hurdle, but unfortunately, we have to close it. As of May 5, Hurdle will no longer be available.
Spotify acquired Game in July last year. According to TechCrunch, Hurdle, similar to Wordle, gives players six chances to guess the artist and title of a popular song by listening to the song’s opening tune.
The report states that the decision to shut down Hurdle was made because Spotify wants to focus on music discovery through app updates.
A company spokesperson was quoted as saying, “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close Hurdle as we focus our attention on other features for Music Discovery.”
Earlier this month, Spotify said it was shutting down its live-audio app, Spotify Live.
However, the company said that it will continue to explore live features on its main platform.
“After a period of experimentation and learning about how Spotify users interact with Live audio, we have decided to discontinue the Spotify Live app,” a spokesperson was quoted as saying.(IANS)
