At tonight’s fifth consecutive “Protest against violence” in Nis, hundreds of citizens gathered in front of the mayor’s office, where student representatives announced that they will fight for the future in their country, Anadolia reports.
The destination of the protest walk was the bridge in Jagodin-mala, since the planned route for the walk was shortened due to the predicted storm.
Addressing the crowd in front of the City Hall, student Milica Marković said that she will fight for her future in her country.
“The more reasons they give us to leave, the more I want us to fight to stay,” she pointed out.
Bojan Blagojević, a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, also addressed the gathering.
“Every year new young people come to the faculty where I work, who are the future of Serbia, who are not only looking for a way to get out of here as soon as possible, young people who in the age of TikTok and reality programs are still reading books, who are aware of the importance of knowledge and how much knowledge is a danger in the country of Serbia today,” Blagojević said.
Demonstrators emphasized that they will continue to walk until their demands are met and repeated them at the beginning and end of the protest.
They are demanding the resignation of all members of REM, the replacement of RTS management, the shutdown of print media and tabloids that publish fake news and violate the journalistic code, the confiscation of national frequencies from Pink and Happy television stations for promoting violence, as well as the removal of the Minister of Police Bratislava Gašić and the head of BIA Aleksandar Vulin.
Although, during the holiday season, fewer people gathered than in previous weeks, the organizers said that the regular holding of the protest will continue.
Let’s remind, with the support of many activists, since May 8 in Belgrade, and then in cities all over Serbia, protests have been organized by the People’s Party, the Freedom and Justice Party, the Together-We Must Party, the Democratic Party, the Green-Left Front, the Movement of Free Citizens and the Movement for the Revolution.
