The former UAE national team star, Subit Khater, confirmed that the Football Association has the reasons that made it take the decision to dismiss the Portuguese coach, Paulo Bento, from training the national team, indicating that the goals required of the coach, and evaluating the results he achieved according to these goals, determine his fate with the “White.” », while he pointed out that three coaches in the ADNOC Professional League suit the team, namely: Romanian Olario Cosmin, Serbian Milos Milojevic, and Portuguese Paulo Sousa.
Subit Khater told “Emirates Al-Youm” that the sports street had discussed, in recent days, the desire of some to dismiss Pinto, explaining: “I cannot talk about that the Portuguese coach should be dismissed, because this decision belongs to the Football Association and those responsible for the national team, especially since When the contract was signed with him, the goals required of him were set.”
He added: “The Football Association can evaluate the coach, whether he has achieved these goals or not, and accordingly take the appropriate decision.”
In response to a question about the most prominent coaches whom he sees as the most suitable to lead the national team if the decision is taken to dismiss Pinto, he said: “I like Al-Wasl’s coach, Milos Milojevic, and what he presented with (The Emperor), and the same applies to Shabab Al-Ahly’s coach, Paulo Souza, while he is considered the coach of Al-Wasl. Sharjah, Olario Cosmin, is one of the most prominent names who has great experience that qualifies him to lead (Al-Abyad), but as I mentioned, the decision is up to the Football Association.”
As for the mistakes that occurred in the team during its participation in the Gulf Cup in Kuwait, he said: “The team in general was not good during the tournament, as considering the performance it presented during the month of November, in the team’s matches against Kyrgyzstan and Qatar in the World Cup qualifiers, The team did not perform at the level expected of it.”
He continued: “I see that the responsibility for exiting the Gulf Cup is borne by the players by 60%, and it is not logical for the coach to be the only one who bears the responsibility, because the players, as I mentioned, did not perform at the level they appeared in the period preceding the tournament.”
Subit Khater spoke about the criticism received by the player Khalifa Al Hammadi, and said: “Mistakes are possible, and any player sometimes does not have his day during some matches, but that does not mean that he should be attacked and demanded that he be excluded permanently.”
He added: “Khalifa Al Hammadi is a very good defender, and it is possible for him to commit mistakes, as the player may have been excellent since the beginning of the season, and when he commits a mistake in one match, he is attacked, and in general, mistakes contribute to strengthening the player and restoring him to his better level in the next stage.”
Regarding his opinion on the importance of Ali Mabkhout’s return to the national team, he said: “Mabkhout no one disagrees about his importance and value, especially since most of the ADNOC Professional League clubs rely on foreign strikers, while Ali Mabkhout is considered the best and most experienced, so I see that his presence is very important. Even if he is on the bench.”
He concluded his statements by responding to a question about Ali Saleh’s exclusion, and said: “I do not have full knowledge of the reason for his absence, and I see that his presence or absence in the Gulf Cup is not the most influential factor, because the team in general was not good.”
