Aid from Jordan to Gaza passes through the Kerem Shalom crossing. This is the first time since the war that aid from a country has come this way. When UN-aided food boxes arrived in Gaza, local residents covered the truck. The UN released video footage of Gazans rushing to grab the boxes as UN trucks arrived with food supplies. There are those who believe that this is also the result of the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea. Houthi attacks have disrupted shipments to Israel. Goods including oil reach Israel through the Red Sea. This problem has put the countries of the world in crisis. This pressure may have led to the opening of the Kerem Shalom crossing to allow food aid to pass through Israel to Gaza, according to reports.
The Kerem Shalom Crossing is a convenient route through Jordan to Israel directly into the Gaza Strip. Jordan closed this vent after the war started. The decision to open this place was taken after some interventions by the UN.
The UN’s World Food Program brought Jordan’s aid to Gaza. 46 trucks have reached Gaza. Reports say that 750 tonnes of goods have been delivered. The opening of the Kerem Shalom crossing will increase the number of food trucks entering Gaza. Gazans are currently starving.
The World Food Program says Gazaya has been starving since the start of the war. The organization uses the term ‘Hunger Hell’. The organization also said that most people in Gaza are suffering from food shortages.
