Bani Yas Football Team Administrator, Mansour Al Balushi, denied receiving any offers regarding the departure of the team’s star player, Suhail Al Nubi, stressing that the player will continue with the team, and that his presence on the bench in the match against Dibba Al Hisn in the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup was according to the vision of Portuguese coach Joao Pedro, who pushed the player in the second half, and he succeeded in creating the fourth goal.
A tweet published by Al Ain Club on its official account on the “X” application during the past few days stated, “O people of Al Ain, when is the appointment of the star Suhail?” and was widely circulated; it was interpreted as the “leader’s” approaching contract with Bani Yas winger Suhail Al Nubi.
Al-Balushi said in press statements: “Suhail Al-Nubi is continuing with us and has a contract. During the past few days, we have not stopped receiving calls asking about the player’s departure to another club. This is certainly incorrect talk because he is continuing with us, and if there are any negotiations, they will be on the club’s table.”
He added: “He is a son of the club and keen to be with the team. His presence on the bench during the cup match was misinterpreted. His presence as a substitute was according to the coach’s choices, and this does not give any indication of his departure.”
Mansour Al Balushi commented on Bani Yas’ 4-2 victory over its guest Dibba Al Hisn in the first leg of the preliminary round of the League Cup, saying: “Our start in the cup was successful. We certainly hope to continue what we presented in the match until the end of the season. I am optimistic this season.”
Regarding the interest of a number of clubs in Bani Yas players, Mansour Al Balushi attributed this to the administrative work, which he described as ideal, and said: “Bani Yas players being at the top of the priorities of the leading teams makes us happy, and is evidence of the ideal work of the administration. There are many clubs that have continued to want to sign our players.”
The Bani Yas team administrator pointed out that his club had started thinking about the new season before the end of last season by moving early in the contracting file, which resulted in holding the external camp with full ranks according to the required technical needs, with the aim of erasing the modest image that Bani Yas had shown last season, and obtaining tenth place in the league competition with 26 points.
Al Balushi said: “We are not satisfied with our position last season. We went through circumstances that led to what happened to us. The team continued to perform strongly against the top teams, and in many matches we were a strong competitor to the teams, but luck was not on our side. This season we aspire to improve our image.”
Coach Pedro lives up to expectations
Bani Yas team manager Mansour Al Balushi confirmed that the management’s choices in contracting with coaches have remained successful, and that it has remained keen to assign the technical task to coaches according to a view that is consistent with the management’s ideas and the players’ mentality, and the extent of the coach’s understanding of the Arab region, in addition to his ability to adapt quickly.
He said that the Portuguese coach Joao Pedro was up to expectations, and that they felt that during the external camp period through his talk and dealings with the players who were responsive to his instructions, which is a promising thing.
