British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunakreceived this Tuesday at the Palace of Westminster, seat of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, the king Charles IIIduring a reception prior to his official coronation, next Saturday.
Dressed in a dark blue suit, the 74-year-old monarch entered the parliamentary building accompanied by the speaker of the House of Commons (lower), lindsay hoyleand that of the Lords (high), john mcfall.
More than 600 parliamentarians of both chambers met in the anteroom of the palace to receive the king and attend the interpretation of the national anthem by the music band of the British Royal Air Force (RAF, in English).
During the reception, the king, with a busy schedule in the days leading up to the coronation, greeted the head of the opposition in the United Kingdom, Keir Starmerand spoke with MPs and parliamentarians about common “interests” such as agriculture, business and local communities, according to Buckingham Palace.
the queen consort, Camilajoined the event later and also spoke with deputies about “literacy, domestic violence and osteoporosis”, according to the Royal House.
“For parliamentarians and deputies who cannot attend on Saturday (to the coronation), this is the opportunity to meet His Majesty,” described the president of the Commons.
During this week, Carlos III plans to talk with various leaders of the Commonwealth, including the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanesehis Canadian counterpart, Justin Trudeauand the head of government of New Zealand, Chris Hipkins.
