An employee of the Amsterdam emergency organization HVO-Querido has died from the injuries he sustained last week as a result of an assault. A spokesperson for the organization confirms a message about this from the local station AT5† A 41-year-old man from Amsterdam has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, the Public Prosecution Service reports.
The 65-year-old supervisor of HVO-Querido was found seriously injured outside on the Hoofdweg in Amsterdam-West last Monday. He died in hospital on Sunday, the spokesman said. The organization says it is very saddened by the loss of the colleague.
The suspect has already been brought before the examining magistrate and will remain in custody for at least two weeks longer. Now that the victim has died, the suspicion is being changed from attempted manslaughter to manslaughter, according to a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service.
What exactly happened is still unclear. Whether the employee has been mistreated by a client, as local residents say AT5 have stated, neither HVO-Querido nor the Public Prosecution Service can confirm. HVO-Querido does conduct a so-called disaster investigation.
HVO-Querido supports vulnerable people who want to regain control of their lives.
