Chandrababu Naidu is accused of a scam of Rs 371 crore through the Skill Development Scheme when he was the CM of Andhra Pradesh.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict on the petition of TDP supremo and former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. Andhra Pradesh High Court had refused to cancel the FIR registered against Naidu in the Rs 371 crore Skill Development Corporation scam. Naidu had challenged this.
The bench of Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M Trivedi reserved its decision after hearing the arguments. Advocate Harish Salve appeared in the court on behalf of Chandrababu Naidu and Advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared on behalf of the state government.
Rejecting Naidu’s plea on September 22, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had said that criminal proceedings should not be stopped in the preliminary investigation and cancellation of FIR should be an exception rather than the rule.

CID had arrested
Former CM Naidu was arrested on 9 September. 73-year-old Naidu was accused of allegedly misusing Skill Development Corporation funds when he was chief minister in 2015, causing a loss of Rs 371 crore to the state exchequer. At present Naidu is in judicial custody and has been kept in Raja Mahendravardhan Central Jail.
In its remand report, the CID had accused Chandrababu Naidu of fraudulently diverting or misappropriating government funds for his own use, disposing of property belonging to public servants, cheating, making fake documents and destroying evidence. Were involved in criminal conspiracies like.
Timeline till now after the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu
9 September: Former CM Naidu arrested by CID in skill development scam worth Rs 371 crore.
10 September: Chandrababu Naidu produced in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada. Then the court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days till 23 September.
11 September: TDP workers protest in Chittoor against the arrest and judicial custody of CM Chandrababu Naidu. On the same day, police also tried to detain several party leaders, including TDP MLC Kancherla Srikanth in Chittoor district.
12 September: TDP has called for a bandh across the state. Andhra Pradesh Police has imposed Section 144 in the entire state on Tuesday.
13 September: Chandrababu’s lawyers filed two petitions in the Andhra High Court. Hearing this, the High Court put an interim stay on the proceedings of the ACB court. Ordered not to detain Naidu till September 18. The hearing of Naidu’s petition to cancel the FIR was adjourned till September 19.
15 September: Naidu’s legal team filed an interim and a regular bail plea for bail. Its hearing could not be held that day.
