– Provocations against the Holy Quran in Sweden
While attacks against the Koran have recently intensified in Sweden and Denmark, allowing these provocations has been met with backlash.
Rasmus Paludan, the far-right Danish politician and leader of the Stram Kurs Party, continued his provocations for the burning of the Holy Quran in the Swedish cities of Malmö, Norköpin and Jönköping and in the capital Stockholm during the Easter holidays in 2022.
Paludan burned the Koran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on January 21 and the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen on January 27. Back in Stockholm, Momika set fire to the Koran under police protection in front of the Stockholm mosque on June 28, which coincided with the first day of Eid al-Adha.
Momika trampled the Koran and the Iraqi flag under police protection in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Stockholm on July 20 and in front of the Swedish Parliament on August 14 and 31.
Also, Bahrami Marjan, of Iranian origin, burned the Koran on Stockholm’s Angbybadet beach on August 3 under police protection.
