Even before the start of the third day of competition, there was an unfavorable change in the regulations for the team of Iga Świątek and Hubert Hurkacz. The organizers decided that no mixed doubles will be played on the last day. As a result, Team Hawks had fewer opportunities to earn the points needed to advance to the grand finals of the World Tennis League exhibition competition.
After Hubert Hurkacz’s performance, it was time for the leader of the women’s ranking – Iga Świątek. The Raszynian also appeared in the doubles, this time alongside Caroline Garcia. There was an extremely electrifying clash, because on the other side of the net were Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa.
In the first two games, the serving players had no problems with maintaining their own serve. The situation changed in the third game, when Sabalenka and Badosa scored the first break. After a while, Świątek and Garcia managed to make up for their losses. The rivals did not give up and continued to press the serve of the Polish-French duo. As a result, after a while we saw another break and a 3:2 lead for the Belarusian and the Spanish.
However, this was the end of good news for the opponents, because from that moment on, Iga and Caroline began to dominate on the court. They won a total of four games in a row and scored valuable 6 points for their team, winning the match 6:3. At this point, Team Hawks took a 10-9 lead against Team Kites. However, the most important thing is the games scored over the three days, because they decide who will advance to Sunday’s title match.
