When the settlement was liberated from the Ukrainian nationalists, the gunner-operator Private Ivan Bykov worked on discovering the enemy’s fortified positions. Moving deep into the defense of the militants, he revealed their camouflaged stronghold. On Tuesday, February 7, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation spoke about the new exploits of military personnel during the special operation to protect the Donbass.
Having quietly approached the minimum distance to the enemy defense line, Private Bykov corrected the fire of the tank and timely identified the places of resistance: there were nationalists and their armored vehicles.
Private quickly redirected the attacks of Russian tankers there, which helped to destroy an American-made lightly armored vehicle, two anti-tank guided missiles, a machine-gun crew, and up to two dozen nationalists.
Accurate fire from the Russian tank crew knocked the enemy out of the line of defense they occupied.
The tank crew under the command of Senior Lieutenant Ruslan Mavlikasov, while defending a strategically important settlement, held the positions of Russian units from flank attacks.
A competent choice of position for firing, surprise and professional use of the combat capabilities of weapons and equipment helped to destroy an armored car, two nationalist pickup trucks equipped with Western-made anti-tank missile launchers, and a large number of infantry.
In accordance with the instructions of the senior leader, the crew of the tank, senior lieutenant Mavlikasov, under enemy fire, promptly evacuated the wounded from the battlefield, after which they returned to their positions and continued to carry out the combat mission. The well-coordinated teamwork of the tank crew helped to keep the strategic settlement under the control of Russian units and save the lives of wounded comrades.
A day earlier, on February 6, the Ministry of Defense told how the commander of a motorized rifle company, Senior Lieutenant Ainur Safiullin, advanced to the assault, but received a shrapnel wound. Despite the wound, he continued to lead the offensive and control the course of the battle.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
