Jalin Turner is among other former and current UFC fighters taking part in media activities ahead of Saturday’s showdown at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“Tarantula” on the defeat against Gamrot: I definitely disagree with the verdict
The 28-year-old from Los Angeles, California first got involved in media training, helping with real-life celebrities, including the legendary Brazilian Royce Gracie in the correct execution of two ground techniques by the daredevils, then he gave autographs, and finally it was time for the journalists.
Our conversation couldn’t miss a Polish thread, i.e. the March fight at UFC 285, Turner lost to Mateusz Gamrot. The fight was fierce, so it’s no wonder that the judges were not fully unanimous in their assessments. As a result, “Gamer” defeated his opponent after a three-round battle by a split point verdict of 2:1.
Turner has since suffered one more defeat, also with a similar verdict (he was defeated by Dan Hooker), but it is the result of the confrontation with the Pole that I am still debating.
– Of course I remember this fight. I also watched it later. AND I definitely disagree with her verdict. I won the first round, the beginning of the second round too, and Mateusz dominated at the end of the second and third round. The judges had different views on this fight, but I had the advantage in the main elements like causing damage to the opponent and with aggression – argues the lightweight fighter.
A fighter with a sonorous nickname in the octagon “Tarantula” He would prefer to settle the score in a rematch. And he is full of hope that he will be able to try his hand at fighting the Pole again. – I would really like to get a second chance and the fight is scheduled for five rounds. “I would really like that challenge,” Turner replied confidently.
“Mateusz Gamrot is a great fighter, but he was probably disappointed”
Anger and dissatisfaction are one thing, but the American also speaks with great class about our excellent grappler, who started his UFC career in 2020.
– Mateusz is a great fighter, he is very good at grappling. I think he took the fight with me because he thought he could win it to his advantage on the ground. However, he did not succeed and was probably disappointed by this fact. Nevertheless, I think he is a very good player – says the Californian.
He added that for now he is waiting for the date of his next fight. This will probably take place at the beginning of next year.
In the fight of the evening and the preceding co-main event, fans will see two fights for championship belts. The “warm-up” will be a battle for the interim title in between Sergei Pavlovich (18-1) and Tom Aspinall (13-3) in the heavyweight category, a Jiri Prochazka (29-3-1) and Alex Pereira (8-2) will fight for the vacant belt at the top of the light heavyweight category. – My pick for both fights of the evening? I expect good fights. That’s all I can say, the 28-year-old replied enigmatically.
