Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, laid the foundation stone for the implementation of the project. The expansion work is going on here, spread over 1,90,000 square meters. The target is to complete the project by the end of 2027.
With the increase in air services, there will be an increase in the number of people landing in the country. Due to the increase in the number of passengers departing and arriving from the airport, there is a need for larger facilities. Along with this, the facilities and systems of the entire airport will be improved. Self-check-in kiosks, electronic boarding gates, extensive rest area, food facilities and a hotel for transit passengers are all planned to be built here.
Efforts are being made to strengthen the tourism and hospitality sectors. Sharjah is aiming for a major breakthrough in the economic field. As a part of this, large-scale activities are going on. Airports should be expanded as more foreigners come into the country. More than 70 lakh passengers traveled through the airport in the first half of last year alone. But when the figures are checked on an annual basis, a growth of 24.4 percent has been recorded.
There is also an increase in the number of flights arriving at the airport. Flights from more countries have been allowed to operate Surdavis. Air Arabia, which is based at Sharjah airport, made a huge profit in the third quarter of last year. A record profit has been made from every year. This has resulted in a growth of 14 percent compared to previous years. The profit will be close to 52.2 crore dirhams. Also there has been a 21 percent increase in the number of passengers.
