Giving information, the Defense Ministry said that suspicious movement was seen in Bhatodi area of Kathua late on Friday night. The army opened fire after suspicious activity in the area. Now a large-scale search operation has been started in the area. According to sources, late on Friday night, terrorists opened fire on the army camp located in Bhatodi village of Bilwar tehsil of Kathua district. After which the soldiers retaliated and the terrorists ran away.
At present the area has been cordoned off and an intensive search operation has been started to search for the terrorists. It is noteworthy that this incident happened a day before the Republic Day celebrations. In view of Republic Day, security arrangements have been tightened in Jammu and Kashmir. The main Republic Day celebrations will be held at the Maulana Azad Memorial Stadium in Jammu.
Actually, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will hoist the national flag on Sunday and take the salute of the parade, while Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah will be the chief guest. The divisional level function and parade in the valley will be held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. Tight security arrangements have been made in Jammu and Srinagar cities to protect the flag hoisting and parade sites for the main Republic Day (Republic Day 2025) celebrations.
