San Francisco. Elon Musk-run Tesla is planning to introduce a new solar charging feature in its app that will help homeowners with rooftop solar power to charge their vehicles with excess solar power.
A new update to the Tesla mobile app reveals new code that reveals a feature focused on allowing Tesla vehicles to charge with excess solar power, reports Electrek.
According to the code, “plug your vehicle at home during the day to use the extra clean energy generated by your solar system.”
The feature is yet to appear on the consumer-facing side of the app, the report says, but the code clearly mentions the customization fee for owners using solar power.
The details of the upcoming feature like launch date are not released yet.
Meanwhile, Tesla has officially started allowing other electric vehicles to refuel at some Supercharger stations in the US.
For months, the company has allowed other companies’ EVs to use its chargers in Europe and now it’s doing the same in the US.
In February, the Joe Biden administration unveiled a new initiative to install 500,000 electric vehicle chargers on US roads by 2030 as part of its $7.5 billion plan, and as part of it, Tesla plans to install 7,500 of its own by the end of 2024. Has committed to open charging stations to non-Tesla vehicles.(IANS)
