The Abu Dhabi Kingfishing Championship begins today

The Grand Abu Dhabi Kingfishing Championship competitions begin today and will continue until the day after tomorrow, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, as part of the goals of promoting the preservation of traditional heritage competitions that express the UAE’s maritime heritage.

1,500 fishermen from more than 360 fishing boats participate in the largest event in the region, with a total prize pool of one million dirhams. The first winner with the heaviest kingfish receives 200,000 dirhams, while the second-place winner receives 150,000 dirhams. The third will receive 100 thousand dirhams, the fourth will receive 50 thousand dirhams, the fifth will receive 40 thousand dirhams, the sixth will receive 30 thousand dirhams, the seventh will receive 25 thousand dirhams, the eighth will receive 20 thousand dirhams, the ninth will receive 19 thousand dirhams, and the tenth will receive 18 thousand dirhams, and the prizes extend until the 60th place. The organizing committee also announced a new package of additional financial prizes for the Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfishing Championship, which is a daily prize worth 10,000 dirhams for the heaviest fish, with first place receiving 5,000 dirhams, second place receiving 3,000 dirhams, and third place receiving 2,000 dirhams. , over the three days of the tournament.
