Today, Thursday, the data of the General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia showed that the consumer price index (inflation rate) for the month of December 2021 increased by 1.2% compared to its counterpart last year, which is higher than the month of November 2021, when it was 1.1%.
The authority said in a report that this increase is due to an increase in transport prices by 7.2%, and food and beverage prices by 1.1%.
The transportation section rose, affected by the increase in gasoline prices by 50%, and the rise of this section had a significant impact on the increase in annual inflation due to its weight in the index.
The increase in the food and beverage section was affected by the increase in food prices by 1.2%, which was affected by the increase in vegetable prices by 6.3% in December 2021.
The consumer price index for the month of December 2021 was relatively stable compared to the month of November 2021, as it decreased by 0.1%.
